There is concern that the virus might mutate in the southern hemisphere over its
winter and become more virulent, but there's no sign of that yet

Official reports say there have been nearly 30,000 cases globally and 141 deaths, with figures rising daily. It is the first flu pandemic in 40 years - the last in 1968 killed about one million people. Preliminary analysis of the swine flu virus suggests it is a fairly mild strain, scientists say.

H1N1 (seasonal flu/swine flu)
Spreads easily through coughing and sneezing
Less severe symptoms, but can be deadly H5N1 (avian flu)

Self Precutions for Swine Flu

  • clean hands thoroughly with soap and water, or cleanse them with an alcohol-based hand rub on a regular basis

  • Use mask when going out

  • avoid close contact with people who might be ill

  • reduce the time spent in crowded settings if possible & Have hygenic life.

  • improve airflow in your living space by opening windows
